In industrial coatings, executing projects with precision and adherence to safety norms is not just a requirement but a testament to a company’s dedication and expertise. Roe Painting, a name synonymous with quality and reliability in the industrial coatings sector, recently undertook a challenging tank coating project in the Boise Foothills for the local water municipality.
This article looks into the project’s intricacies, challenges, and the exceptional measures taken by Roe Painting to ensure success.
Andy Roe, owner of Roe Painting, alongside Paul Stratford, the Project Manager of Roe Painting’s Industrial Coatings Division, shed light on the complexities of the water tank coating project nestled in the Boise Foothills. Stratford remarked on the primary obstacle of the project – access.
“The biggest challenge was the access. There was a dirt road leading up to the tank, and weather conditions could easily trap our team and equipment,” he shared. This logistical hurdle was one among many that the Roe Painting team adeptly navigated.
Safety, as always, was at the forefront of their efforts. Detailed measures were taken to ensure the safety of the workforce, including the utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE), dust control to mitigate dust-filled environments, and specific lighting for safe blasting operations.
When dealing with the interior of a city’s drinking water supply, the choice of coating materials is paramount.
“There are very specific products used in a drinking water environment that are made to house drinking water and cure at low temperatures we face in winter,” Stratford explained, highlighting the meticulous selection process to ensure the water’s purity and safety.
Addressing the potential presence of lead in older tanks, Stratford detailed the careful approach adopted by Roe Painting to mitigate health and environmental risks. The team employed a strategy of pressure washing and patch priming without disturbing the existing coatings, thus avoiding exposure to any lead-based substances.
The project’s success was marked not only by the adherence to safety and health standards but also by the timely completion of the task at hand.
Stratford proudly stated, “We made sure to over-prepare for the weather, pushed through, got it done on time, and the customer couldn’t be happier.”
The water tank coating project in the Boise Foothills stands as a testament to Roe Painting’s commitment to excellence, safety, and client satisfaction. Through innovative solutions, a focus on health and environmental safety, and the relentless dedication of its team, Roe Painting once again proves why it’s the go-to expert in industrial coatings.
